The High Point dresser was first built in 1926 and at the time was delightfully known as the “Bureau of Information.” At nearly 40 feet tall, the colossal chest is roughly the size of a large house or small building, which in fact is precisely what it is. The city holds “The High Point Market” which brings in roughly 80,000 visitors from over 100 different countries. The first home furnishings makes took place in 1909. The City of High Point, NC has earned the nickname “furniture capital of the world”.
